Janet and Mike Wilton held the annual choir party at their home on Lake Erie under beautiful skies, and attended by a fun group of friends. A Horseshoe contest, cherry pit spitting contest, and a Canada Trivia game kept the crowd active and brought many laughs to the normally subdued group. :) A potluck dinner was enjoyed with hamburgers and hotdogs barbequed by Mike Wilton and Susan Gerrard. Thanks to Henry Szura, Bruce Rutter and Joyce Shingler for capturing the event on camera. It couldn't have been a more perfect day. Thank you to our hosts Janet and Mike for their hospitality.
St. Mary's Choir
We are blessed with an exceptional music program at St. Mary's, led by Organist and Music Director Steve Snider.
Some excuses we've heard for not joining the Choir... "I can't sing." Only 1 in 50,000 people is tone deaf. You can sing.
"I can't read music." Most of us can't either ... and see how easily we fooled you.
"I'd be too nervous to stand up in front of everyone." So stand in the second row - that's what we all try to do.
"I don't have time." Two hours on Thursday nights 7:00-9:00. Summers off. Sunday ... well, you're here anyway.
Some reasons for joining the Choir...
We're a fun group. Sometimes we're so busy laughing and chatting, Steve has to remind us to sing. We also have an awesome 'bring and share' party, families included, at the beginning of summer.
Singing is good for you. It lifts the spirits, relieves stress, increases your oxygen level. In this case there is the added benefit of praising God.
No wardrobe or weight concerns on Sunday mornings - those blue gowns cover everything.
No waiting for communion; best viewing spot for baptisms; first out for coffee.
St. Mary's has a long and prestigious choral tradition. If you love to sing, the choir would enthusiastically welcome you. Please come give us a try.
Harvest Sunday, Sunday, October 5, 2014
Today was Joyce Shingler's last day as organist/choir director. Joyce graciously stepped in to fill the position when Steve Snider had to take time off. The choir enjoyed working with her. Thank you Joyce for sharing your talents and your patience with us! Choir practice resumes with Steve on Thursday, October 9 at 6:45.(Did anyone tell Steve that Joyce let us out early on rehearsal nights due to good behaviour?)
Choir Party, July 1, 2014
What a beautiful day for the Annual Choir Summer Party at the home of Janet and Mike Wilton. The weather cooperated and so did the participants in the various events~ horseshoe pitching, cherry pit spitting contest, and the Canadian trivia questionnaire. The potluck dinner was delicious and Chef Mike barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers for the hungry crowd. Thank you to Janet and Mike for another fantastic party!
Choir Goes to RENT Many members of the choir, with their family and friends went to see Rent at the Walkerville Theatre. We went to support one of our choir members, Amanda Hanson who was on the keyboard. Well done Amanda. We were proud of you!
Canada Day Choir Party July 1, 2015
Mother Nature cooperated and provided a beautiful day for the choir party at the lakefront home of Janet and Mike Wilton. A good time was had by all! One of the many perks of being a choir member at St. Mary's!!! Join the choir and attend the party next year.
Canada Day Choir Party July 1, 2013
The choir had a fun time at the home of Janet and Mike Wilton, in spite of the continuous rainfall. The outdoor games had to be cancelled, but we did have a Canadian Trivia Quiz created by David Trousdale. Mike was a trooper as he cooked hot dogs and hamburgers in the rain for his appreciative guests. Another bonding event for the St. Mary's choir! Thanks to Janet and Mike for being such great hosts.
Pointe West Christmas Concert On Sunday, December 9th, 2012 the St. Mary's Choir performed at the Christmas Dinner at Pointe West Golf Club. The audience enjoyed the two hour performance. The choir was treated to a delicious meal.
