Many stayed to enjoy a delicious lunch. Thanks to all of the volunteers for their tireless efforts, and to the contributors of the items that were sold. Another community building event by the St. Mary's family!

The sold out crowd was treated to a delicious lunch, fine fashions, door prizes, and melodic melodies by our choir director Steve Snider. Our commentator, June Walker, and the models delighted everyone as they "strutted their stuff". Thanks to Modrigal, The Abbey and Nygard for providing the fine fashions. The Outreach Committee thanks all members of the parish who made this event so successful. A special thanks to Susan Gerrard who took all these amazing photos!
Blessing of the Animals ServiceSunday, September 15, 2013 A rabbit, ferrets, cats, and dogs were welcome visitors this Sunday. In fact, they were the reason for this outdoor service. Although Mother Nature uttered a few warning sounds, she allowed this event to take place without any rain. As the choir led the congregation in hymns of praise, many of the dogs joined in. We were thrilled to see so many new faces (animals and humans!) at this special event honouring our faithful pets. After the service, each animal was given a Blessing by Canon Jane, and a commemorative ribbon from Ruth Kivinen.

Youth Choir Year End Party, Sunday, June 9, 2013 The Youth Choir enjoyed their year end celebration playing miniature golf. Before the game began, it was decided that they wouldn't keep track of their score, as this way they were all winners! This decision certainly took the pressure off the adults! As the pictures confirm, a good time was had by all. Pizza and ice cream were served on the deck. Thank you to Steve and Alex Snider for a great end of the year party.
Book Sale Saturday, June 1, 2013 In spite of impending rain, volunteers set up the book sale. The people came, and the rain stayed away! Another successful Outreach fundraiser. The ACW sold plants that were remaining from last week's plant sale, as well.
ACW Plant Sale Saturday, May 26, 2013 It may have been a cold day, but the sales were hot, as the ACW had their first plant sale. Many parishioners donated plants from their gardens and the result was tables full of perennials. Some of the plants were even used in areas around the church. The PERENNIALS were such a hit, this may become an ANNUAL event!

Walkerville Art Students Bring Their Talents to St. Mary's On Friday, February 15 at 5 pm, 22 Walkerville Art Students began a 12+12 Art Project in our parish hall. The students were given the word INDEPENDENCE, and from that word they brainstormed words that encompassed independence. Each student chose one of the words, and painted a picture to depict his/her word. They worked on their projects until 5 pm on Saturday, with only a few hours sleep during that time. The students cleaned up the hall, and the only sign that they had been there were their paintings displayed for the congregation to view on Sunday morning at the coffee hour. Fantastic experience for all involved!

After lunch, the Reverend Gordon Maitland spoke to the group about the beginning of Anglicanism. There was a question and answer period following the detailed history, expertly delivered by Father Gordon. Sunday, August 19, 2012 Returning to her childhood church, The Reverend Dr. Sarah Travis preached the homily at the 10 am service. Sarah is the daughter of Neil and Bonnie Travis. Beginning in September, Sarah will act as Minister in Residence and will be a Sessional Instructor at Knox College. Sarah's husband, Paul Miller, joined in the service by playing the violin. Thank you Sarah and Paul for joining us at St. Mary's.
Picnic Sunday, June 24, 2012 After an uplifting church service with The Reverend Canon Bill Cliff, the annual church picnic was held outside. Although forecasters called for rain, the only water came from the squirt guns provided by the Outreach Committee. The Bring and Share table was laden with salads and desserts, and Chefs Noel and John cooked delicious hamburgs and hotdogs. Another successful event with our church family!
Father's Day 2012
The Chancel Guild provided "Sundaes on Sunday" to celebrate Father's Day. Ice cream, sauces, and sprinkles allowed parishioners to create their own sundaes. What a refreshing treat on a very warm Sunday!
Images of Paradise On Saturday, September 15,2012 Susan Duxter, a local artist, had an opening gala of her art show entitled Images of Paradise at the Art Speak Gallery on Wyandotte Street. Members of St. Mary's donated appetizers and desserts created from the recipes from The St. Mary's Cookbook Volume 1; in return, Susan is selling our cookbooks at her week long show, and has donated an original painting for a raffle, with all profits going to the St. Mary's Food Cupboard. After the event, Susan wrote, "The food for my reception last night will go down in art history as the finest ever! I can't tell you how many people I heard saying, after eating one appetizer or another, "Oh, this is so delicious! I am going to buy this cookbook." I am so grateful to the members of St. Mary's Church for their huge contribution to the success of my first solo art show. They were professional as they swept in laden with platters of food, set it out, hid all the extra food until it was needed, and then stayed in the background, all the while being mindful of necessary refills. When the reception ended, again they rallied and cleaned up every sign of ever having been there. No one could have done a better job. I am filled with gratitude, and I hope that the sales of your cookbook and the raffle tickets prove to be equally as successful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Congratulations to Gail Ford, the winner of the raffle of an original watercolour by Susan Duxter. Brigid Carlini, the helper who chose the winning ticket, poses with Canon Jane and Gail.
