On Sunday, September 23 Bishop Marinez and Joseane from the Diocese of Amazonia visited St. Mary's. Bishop Marinez preached at the 10 am service and the Rev. Hilton Gomes was her interpreter. Church Picnic 2018 During the indoor service, Deanne Marion became a server as she received the cross she wears over her vestments. Deanne is a great addition to our services In spite of impending rain, the picnic was held outside. Chancel Guild on Good Friday, 2018
Besides beautifying the church each Sunday with the memorial flowers on the altars, the Chancel Guild works diligently after the Good Friday service to dust, polish, scrub and arrange the Easter Memorials. What a dedicated group of women. Thank you to Hannah Maitland who was visiting for the weekend.
If you received a cross on Palm Sunday, thank these women who met on a Friday morning to make the transformation of a palm branch into a cross. So many people work behind the scenes to support St. Mary's.

Fall Fashion Show, 2017
Another sold out event at St. Mary's! The fashions, the food and the fun made for a great night. Our moderator, June Walker wore many different outfits highlighting the styles through the ages. Our models were entertaining, the piano accompaniment by Steve Snider added a personal touch, the chefs provided delicious food and the servers delivered the food with a flair! Celebrating Canada's 150th Birthday, July 2, 2017 Our church picnic was held July 2nd. We celebrated Canada's 150th Birthday by dedicating a newly planted maple tree on the front lawn. The weather was beautiful and as the pictures show, everyone had a wonderful time. The games were enjoyed by all. The putting game was won by Patty Spindler for the over 10, and by Jack Chausse for the 10 and under age group. The guessing of the amount of money in the loonie and toonie jar was won by The Rev. Gayle Rawlings. The coins were chocolate and Gayle readily shared her prize. Thanks to our chefs John Ford and Noel Goldhawk for barbecuing the best hot dogs and hamburgs. Thank you to Amy and David Stotts for being in charge of the putting game. Thank you to everyone for bringing a dish to share. Spring Fashion Show The Spring Fashion Show was another successful, sold out event! From the fashions, the door prizes, the models, the musical accompaniment, the Emcee and the volunteers, the night was one of our best ever. See you next year!
Paint Night Another successful paint night was sponsored by the ACW. The group painted the rose created for Canada's 150th Birthday. Thanks to Katrina and her son for their expert advice and assistance. The finished products were amazing, as you can see in the group picture. The question remains: When is the next painting event?
Celebrating 25 Years as a Priest Archdeacon Jane's 25th Year of her ordination into Priesthood was celebrated on Sunday, May 7, 2017. We look forward to another 25 years of her service at St. Mary's!
Essex Deanery Confirmation, Sunday, April 23, 2017 Bishop Linda confirmed the delegates from the Essex Deanery at St. James Church, Windsor. Gayle Tait from St. Mary's was confirmed and her husband, Bruce Tait was reconfirmed. Congratulations, Gayle and Bruce.
The members of the Chancel Guild worked their creative spirit again. After sharing a meal, they dusted the altar, polished the brass and arranged the flowers, in preparation for Easter Day. Alleluia, Christ is Risen!
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner Friday, April 7, 2017
Archdeacon Jane, Rector and Pat Spindler, Coordinator of St. Mary's Food Cupboard, honoured our many volunteers at a dinner. Fifty people attended and 20 more were invited but were unable to attend. Pat shared with the group about volunteering and guest speakers Bev Timpson and Brian Hull shared about their mother Grace, who set up a trust fund 30 years ago to begin this Outreach Ministry. The volunteers were each given a food cupboard magnetic sign for their cars. Thank you to Koolini's for catering the delicious buffet and to the Memorial Fund for hosting the meal. Thank you to all of the volunteers who make this Outreach Ministry viable. Volunteers believe in all work for no pay because their pay is the SMILES they receive from the clients they help.
Making Palms Into Crosses
A group of volunteers gathered together to make the crosses for Palm Sunday. Archdeacon Jane reminded the eager participants of the process and within an hour over 100 crosses were made.

Twenty participants took part in this ACW fundraiser. Katrina Rutter taught a step by step method of painting the tulip created to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. As you can see in the group photo, the paintings were as unique and as individualistic as the painters themselves. Another great St. Mary's event.
St. Patrick's Day Dinner, Friday, March 17, 2017
A group of 50 people enjoyed Corned Beef and Cabbage or Shepherd's Pie as they celebrated being Irish for a day. Thank you to Ruth Kivinen and Joanne Batten for preparing the food. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped serve and wash dishes. Another successful event sponsored by the Outreach Committee.
The Blanket Exercise Thursday, February 23, 2017
The Blanket Exercise was presented at St. Mary's by Archdeacon Val Kerr, Archdeacon for Truth, Reconciliation and Indigenous Ministry in the Diocese of Huron. The Blanket Exercise walked us through the history of the relationship between the Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in North America. The exercise was so powerful that each participant walked out of the exercise a different person than he/she was at the beginning.
Chili Night with the Bubba James Band The Outreach Committee tried something new this year and everyone raved about the 13 types of Chili, the entertainment by Bubba James Band and the relaxed atmosphere. Thanks for all the support for this First Annual Chili Night.
ACW Sewing Meeting The women of the ACW cut stamps to be donated to Bible for Missions, hemmed flannel baby blankets for Monica House, knitted slippers and scarves and made Santa gift card holders for the Bazaar. After our hard work, we relaxed and enjoyed some food, fellowship and laughs~many laughs! Good for the spirit and the soul.
ACW Meeting~ January 2, 2017
The first ACW of the new year began in the chapel with a corporate communion and an installation of the new executive. For all of her hard work during her presidency, out-going president Marilyn Goldhawk received a gift from the members. Katrina Rutter, in-coming President, certainly has big shoes to fill, but she is up for the challenge. After a short business meeting, the members celebrated the 76th Birthday of St. Mary's ACW.

After the 11 am service, the Humphreys, Maitland, Kivinen and Foster families hosted a Christmas Luncheon for parishioners. As the pictures show, it was a great celebration on Jesus' birthday.

Parishoners gathered together to get to know more about members of their parish family. A game to faciliate this was enjoyed by all. As always a tradition, delicious appetizers were provided and were throughly savoured by the attendees.

Another successful ACW fundraiser! St. Mary's parish hall became an art studio with teachers Katrina Rutter and Ruth Kivinen. All participants had a great time creating their landscape acrylic painting. Although the group was taught the same procedure, each painting was distinctly different. ACW Closing Luncheon Wednesday, June 15, 2016 Twenty-three Anglican women enjoyed a delicious Greek Luncheon at Thanasi's. Lots of conversations filled the room, before, between and even during bites of the fabulous food. At the end, we lined up on the steps for a photo opportunity. The manager took that picture and had us say, "Opa!", which certainly is apropos for the venue. I'm sure we will return there again next year. Thank you to Katrina Rutter for taking all of the pictures except the group picture taken on the staircase.

The Rev. Marcos Fernando Barros de Souza and his wife Maria de Lourdes Bernardino de Souza from the Diocese of Amazonia visited St. Mary's last Sunday. Amazonia is the Diocese of Huron's companion Diocese. Rev. Marcos delivered the sermon, and Mrs. Sandy Gomes interpreted his words for the congregation. The parish gifted the couple with a blanket that was created for the 100th Anniversary of St. Mary's. Rev. Marcos presented Archdeacon Jane with a handcrafted chalice and paten from Amazonia. Pasta Dinner May 29, 2016
The Outreach Committee sponsored another fun evening for the community: a Pasta dinner with entertainment by the Central Seniors' Band. The cooks and wait staff, led by Marilyn Goldhawk, paraded around the tables as they waved their tea towels to the song played by the band. Thanks to all members of the Outreach Committee for their tireless work!

14th Annual Spring Fashion Show, May 4, 2016
A full house enjoyed fabulous fashions, food and fun at our Spring Fashion Show. The participants were overwhelmed with all of the door prizes. Thanks to kitchen staff, Noel, John, Derrick, Ruth, and Bob: the roast beef dinner was delicious. Thank you to the servers, the wine stewards, the photographer, Bruce Rutter, the emcee June Walker, Cathie Tompkins, in charge in arranging the stores and the models and to all of the people who donated door prizes Thank you to the Outreach Committee Convenor Janet Wilton, and all of the Outreach committee for setting up and cleaning up. Thanks to Marg McAllum for setting up the tables and arranging a seat for everyone. Thank you to the models, for without them, it wouldn't have been such a successful event! Thank you to Archdeacon Jane for her continued support and leadership.

The men of the church, and Archdeacon Jane, enjoyed their monthly breakfast after the 8 am Service. Chefs Noel and John served a delicious meal to the hungry crowd. On May 8, Mother's Day, the BAC men are hosting a breakfast for the women in the church.
St. Mary's Talent Show, Saturday February 6, 2016
St. Mary's Parishionersshowed off theirtalents in various ways. Our M.C. Janet Wilton kept the show rolling along with her hilarious wit. As the pictures indicate, the talents varied from the ridiculous to the sublime. Coordinators Joyce Shingler and June Walker worked diligently to make this event a success. Many arms were twisted to convince some people they had talent worth sharing! :) The audience and performers went home feeling that this night was certainly a community building event. We hope we don't have to wait another ten years before the next show! Kudos to Henry Szura for capturing so many of the highlights of the evening with the pictures below.

GECDSB Can Drive, 2015
This year 11 schools from the Public School board held can drives for St. Mary's Food Cupboard. Thanks to the effort of the staffs and students, 42,000 cans and non perishable foods were donated. Many volunteers were needed to sort the cans and stock the shelves. Walkerville students carried their donation of over 20,000 cans downstairs, for which our volunteers were grateful! Our volunteers were so focused on sorting the cans, they would not turn around to have their pictures taken. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event so successful. Our clients will benefit from your generosity and support.

Church Family Christmas Luncheon, 2015
The Kivinen, Foster and Maitland families hosted a Turkey Christmas luncheon after the 11:00 am service. Parishioners added to the banquet table, as well. A delicious meal, lively discussions and a feeling of family equals a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Thanks to everyone who helped create this page for our memory bank.

Third Annual Wine and Cheese Get Together Fri., Nov. 6, 2015
Over 70 people attended our annual social get together. The table was laden with delicious appetizers, and the bar was stocked with fruits of the vine. Parishioners from the 8 o'clock service mingled with the 10 o'clock people, some meeting for the first time. Even before the activity designed to learn more about members of our church family, people were forging new relationships. As the pictures verify, the participants were eagerly filling in their question sheet. All who attended walked away with a feeling that they had been at a large family reunion. Another positive community building event at St. Mary's!

The audience was treated to fabulous fashions from Tan Jay, Island Girl, Formally Yours and Abbey's Men's Wear in Leamington. Thank to all members of the congregation who helped make this another successful Outreach event!
Quiet Day in Colchester, Wednesday, October 21, 2015 Twenty-three Anglican Church Women gathered together at Christ Church Colchester. St. Mary's was well represented! Six of our ACW members attended. Muffins, coffee and tea were served upon arrival. A Holy Eucharist service was held in the church. After the service, the women enjoyed their brown bag lunch and round table conversation. After lunch we had some time to go outside and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the church. The highlight of the day was when Reverend Victoria Mouck shared slides of her visit to Brazil and told of her amazing, life-changing experience. We were all touched by her stories and the picture mantage of her journey.
Harvest The members of the Chancel Guild worked diligently to decorate the church with the fruits of the earth for the Harvest Season. Thanks to Chris Menna, a parishioner, for baking the bread for the main altar.

Blessing of the Animal Service September 20, 2015
Today, we honoured our precious pets; twenty dogs and 1 parrot attended the service, and received a Blessing and a ribbon from Archdeacon Jane Humphreys. Some of our four-legged guests joined in with the choir. Our organist, Steve, might audition some of them for the tenor or bass sections. Another very special celebration was the 93 birthday of Alice Hodgkinson. A cake was shared as we wished Alice a very Happy Birthday!
Congratulations Bishop Peck
A celebration was held today honouring Bishop Peck on the 25th anniversary of his consecration as a Bishop. The Parish Hall was filled with well wishers from St. Mary's, All Saints and other parishes where Bishop Peck served throughout his ministry in Windsor. He shared with everyone his journey as a Priest and Bishop. What a wonderful celebratory event to have on Rally Sunday.
ACW Mums Arrive
The mums sold by our ACW arrived and were carried into the Parish Hall by the volunteers pictured below. Thanks to parishioners and friends, 197 mums were sold. Thanks to the Bloomin' Gardener for offering us this amazing fundraiser.
Rummage Sale 2015 The Outreach Committee sponsored a very successful rummage sale this summer. Thank you to the many volunteers who assisted the committee in setting up, selling and cleaning up. Over $1333 was raised!!

Mother Nature presented herself on Saturday with such fury, that the picnic was held indoors this year. Hamburgers and hotdogs were provided and parishioners brought delicious salads and desserts. Thank you to everyone who helped with set up, barbequing, and clean up. What a great end to a very busy couple of months in St. Mary's Parish Life.

The Three Canters treated the audience to an evening of song- everything from beloved music of the Church to the best of Broadway. Proceeds of this concert will support the ministries of St. Mary's as well as The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund advocating relief and sustainable development all over the world. Thanks to all of St. Mary's parishioners who provided the food for the FABULOUS Reception following the concert.

Twenty-five women from St. Mary's enjoyed an ACW luncheon held at Lilly Kazzilly's. President, Marilyn Goldhawk, welcomed the ACW members and our guests. She warmed up the energy in the room by playing a game where the participants had to know their left from their right, and had to sharpen their listening skills. Archdeacon Jane offered the Grace, followed by a delicious meal. A great way to start our summer hiatus. Have a safe and fun-filled summer holiday. See you at the ACW meeting in September.

Palms into Crosses Friday, March 27, 2015
On Friday, March 27, a group of women from the church gathered together to transform palms into crosses. After a quick review on You Tube, 200 crosses were created! On Palm Sunday, the Sunday School children paraded in waving palms. Members of the congregation received crosses, blessed by Archdeacon Jane.
